The Association of Bankers Bangladesh Limited (ABB) organized the ‘ABB Cybersecurity Summit’, held on June 12–13, 2022, at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. During the event, the Chairman of ABB shared insights into the current state of the banking sector. He noted that the foreign currency crisis in the country had eased to some extent compared to the previous year, although full normalization has yet to be achieved.

He highlighted that the banking sector has witnessed a rise in customer confidence, reflected by increased deposits and remittance inflows. However, as the sector continues to grapple with excess liquidity, finding viable solutions to issues related to the opening of Letters of Credit (LCs) remains a top priority.

The Chairman emphasized the importance of striking a balance between managing surplus funds effectively and facilitating international trade, both of which are essential to support sustainable economic growth in Bangladesh.
