Under his leadership, EBL has been awarded the Bank of the Year recognition by the Banker Magazine for 3 times, Best Retail Bank in Bangladesh award by The Asian Banker for 6 consecutive years 2013 – 2018, Euro money Best Bank in Bangladesh for 3 consecutive years, Asiamoney Best Corporate and Investment Bank of Bangladesh for 4 consecutive years, Finance Asia Best Bank of Bangladesh in 2017 and 2019, the IFC Global Award for the Best Partner for Working Capital Systemic Solution, ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence, the Best Financial Institution 2010 at the DHL-Daily Star Bangladesh Business Award.

It was also under his leadership EBL was the first Bangladeshi Bank to be rated by Moody’s in 2016. He led the Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB), a forum of Managing Directors of Bangladesh’s scheduled banks, for two terms 2020-2021 and 2014-2015.

Prior to joining Mutual Trust Bank PLC, Mr. Rahman served as the Managing Director & CEO of Dhaka Bank PLC, where he led the bank to win the prestigious Bank of the Year 2018 – Bangladesh award from The Banker. He also held the positions of Managing Director & CEO and Deputy Managing Director (DMD) at BRAC Bank PLC, playing a key role in its growth and transformation. Earlier in his career, he served as DMD of Prime Bank PLC.

Mr. Rahman has received multiple international accolades, including “Banking CEO of the Year Bangladesh” by Global Banking and Finance Review and International Business Magazine, and “Inspirational Leader of the Year Bangladesh” by World Business Outlook Magazine. He was also honored with The Asian Banker Leadership Achievement Award for his contributions to BRAC Bank.

He began his professional career after earning an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. His early roles included Monitoring Officer at Saudi-Bangladesh Industrial & Agricultural Investment Co. Ltd. (SABINCO) and Manager of Monitoring at Industrial Leasing & Development Co. (IDLC). He then held key positions at ANZ Grindlays Bank and Standard Chartered Bank before joining Citibank N.A., where he rose to become Director and Head of the Financial Institutions Group.

Known for his depth of expertise, Mr. Rahman frequently participates in international training programs and serves as a speaker on banking, finance, and management. Beyond his professional endeavors, he enjoys a fulfilling personal life with his wife and two daughters.
