At a Glance: Association of Bankers Bangladesh Limited (ABB)
The Association of Bankers Bangladesh Limited (ABB) is a non-profit organization. It was officially incorporated on April 15, 1997, with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) under the Companies Act of 1994. The initiative was spearheaded by Late Mr. Lutfar Rahman Sarkar, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank.
Since its inception, ABB has been working tirelessly for the advancement of the banking sector, serving as a common platform of the Managing Directors & CEOs of Banks in Bangladesh. It has played a pivotal role in facilitating dialogue on critical contemporary banking issues with key stakeholders such as Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Law, National Board of Revenue (NBR), and other relevant organizations.
ABB regularly provides valuable recommendations, expert opinions, suggestions and strategic advice to both banks and regulatory authorities. The association is actively involved in policy discussions, regulatory consultations, and industry-level advocacy aimed at promoting sound banking practices, financial sector development, and national economic progress.
Through its consistent efforts, ABB has earned recognition from stakeholders for its leadership in guiding the industry through challenges and crises.
